Before you meet

• Chat in-app for a while first. Time is your friend. Patterns reveal themselves.
• Look for the green verification tick. It means we've matched the person's selfie to their profile photo. Not foolproof, but a strong signal.
• Video-call or voice-call first. A 5-minute call eliminates most catfishing.
• Reverse-image search the profile photos. If they appear elsewhere under a different name, walk away.
• Tell a friend— the person's name, the place, the time, when you'll check in.

When you meet in person

• Public place. Daytime if possible. Coffee shops, busy restaurants, a metro station. Not their flat, not yours.
• Arrange your own transport.Don't get into their car or accept rides. Use a ride-share you control.
• Keep your drink in sight.Don't accept open drinks from anyone.
• Stay sober enough to make decisions.
• Trust your gut. If something feels off, leave. You owe nobody an explanation.

Spotting a scam

Romance scams are common in India. The pattern is usually:

• Moves the conversation off-app very quickly (WhatsApp, Telegram, email)
• Claims to live abroad, often in “the merchant navy,” military, or oil-rig work
• Cannot video-call — always has an excuse
• Falls in love quickly. Within days.
• Eventually asks for money — a stuck shipment, a visa fee, a medical bill, an “investment opportunity”

Never send money to someone you haven't met in person. If you have, contact your bank immediately and file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in. Then report the profile to us.

Getting help

If you're in immediate danger, call 100 (India Police) or 112 (Emergency).

If you've been sexually assaulted, you can call the women's helpline 1091 or 181 in India. Free counselling and legal aid available.

To report a Rightswype user— the fastest path is the in-app Report button (taps on the profile or in the chat). Out-of-band: safety@rightswype.com — a human reads every message, usually within 12 hours. All complaints are acknowledged within 24 hours and content/safety grievances are resolved within 15 days, per IT Rules 2021 Rule 3(2)(a).

If intimate images of you have been shared without consent, email safety@rightswype.com with the subject line NCII URGENT. We will remove the content within 24 hours, per IT Rules 2021 Rule 3(2)(b).

To block someone— tap their profile, tap the menu, tap Block. They will no longer be visible to you and you to them. Blocks are permanent until you reverse them.

What Rightswype does

• Every uploaded photo is screened by an automated NSFW classifier; borderline cases get human review
• Bios and messages are screened for harassment, threats, and content involving minors
• Reporting someone auto-blocks them for an hour while we review
• Verified selfie matching keeps catfishers off the verified-only filter
• Rate limits stop bots from spamming swipes, messages, or reports
• You can delete your account and everything in it instantly from /account

We can't see private conversations unless they're reported — our default stance is privacy. When a report comes in, the necessary context is reviewed by a trained human and not stored beyond what's needed for the investigation.
