Community Guidelines

Last updated: 2026-06-28

Rightswype is for adults looking to meet other adults — for relationships, casual dating, or friendship. These guidelines spell out what's OK and what's not. They're part of our Terms of Service; breaking them can get your account suspended or terminated.

Be the real you

  • Use your real name and real date of birth
  • Upload photos that genuinely show you, alone or clearly identifiable in group shots
  • Don't impersonate anyone else — real, fictional, or famous
  • Get verified if you want the green tick — it's a free in-app selfie check
  • One person, one account

Treat people well

  • No harassment, threats, stalking, or doxxing
  • No hate speech based on caste, religion, gender, sexuality, race, disability, or any other protected characteristic
  • If someone isn't interested, accept it and move on
  • Respect a “no” the first time
  • Other users' private information stays private — don't share screenshots, contact details, or location outside the app without consent

Strictly prohibited — zero tolerance

The following result in immediate, permanent account termination and may be reported to law enforcement:

  • Anyone under 18. Sexual content involving minors is reported to NCMEC and Indian authorities. No exceptions.
  • Romance scams or fraud. Asking other users for money, gifts, cryptocurrency, investment opportunities, or anything of value
  • Credible threats of violence or self-harm directed at any person
  • Promoting or facilitating human trafficking, forced labour, or paid sexual services
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery(“revenge porn”) or threats to share such imagery

Not allowed (account at risk)

  • Nudity, sexually explicit photos or messages
  • Photos with weapons, drugs, or hate symbols
  • Promoting services, brands, events, or any commercial activity
  • Sharing contact details (phone, social handles, WhatsApp) in your bio — use the chat for that, once matched
  • Spam, copy-pasted messages to many users, or bot-like activity
  • Using the app while you're married or in a committed relationship without your partner's knowledge — this is a frequent abuse-report category and we err on the side of the complainant

What happens when someone breaks the rules

Every report goes to a real human within 12 hours. Outcomes:

  • Auto-block for an hourhappens automatically the moment you report someone — you won't see them while we review
  • Warning for minor first-time issues (e.g. spammy bio)
  • Temporary suspension for repeat or moderate violations
  • Permanent termination for serious or repeated violations; an IP / device ban for the zero-tolerance list above
  • Legal referralwhen required — underage content, credible threats, fraud

If you think we got it wrong, you can appeal: email safety@rightswype.com with your account email and the date of the action. A different reviewer will take a fresh look within 72 hours.

Content prohibited under Indian law

In addition to the rules above, IT Rules 2021 Rule 3(1)(b) requires us to prohibit content that:

  • Threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security, or sovereignty of India; friendly relations with foreign States; or public order
  • Incites the commission of any cognisable offence, or relates to or encourages money laundering or gambling
  • Is patently false, untrue, or misleading in nature
  • Contains pandemic-related or disaster-related information that is false or could mislead the public
  • Contains a software virus, worm, or any code designed to interrupt, destroy, or limit the functionality of any computer resource
  • Contains information related to drugs or addictive substances

Posting any of the above will result in immediate content removal and may result in account termination. Where required by law, we will report the content and account to the appropriate authorities.

Non-consensual intimate imagery — fast track

If someone has posted (or threatened to post) intimate images of you without your consent, we treat it as the highest-priority report. We will remove the content within 24 hours of receiving a complaint with enough information to identify it, per IT Rules 2021 Rule 3(2)(b).

Email safety@rightswype.com with the subject line NCII URGENTand we'll jump the queue. You don't need to share the image itself — a link to the profile or message is enough.

Right to appeal

If you think we got an enforcement decision wrong, email safety@rightswype.com and a different reviewer will take a fresh look within 72 hours.

If you're unhappy with the appeal outcome, you can escalate to the Grievance Appellate Committee under IT Rules 2021 Rule 4A.
